Litigation and high patient expectations 'bar nursing'

According to the BBC website, patients and their family have high expectations when they are in hospital. They expect nurses to perform miracles. In general patients do not like to complain, but when they do complain they make nurses feel as if they do everything wrong. They feel very guilty even if they have done nothing wrong. Marcia Turnham from Cambridgeshire explains that sometimes the expectations of patients and relatives are too high. Nurses have a lot of paperwork to do and that takes them away from patients.
Patients see nurses as their advocates and rely on them, however nurses often do not have the time because there is so much bureaucracy attached to their role.
I agree with this. I think that a lot of people are manipulated by soaps like Grey's Anatomy and ER . they create an image of a hospital where there is always time to have a little chat with a nurse or a doctor. Thias, however is an image that is not realistic. Doctors and nurses are there to cure the patients, but they do not have time to get involved in the patients private life.

More delays as planes return to skies

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8633892.stm

The first airplane since last Thursday has landed in Heathrow. Passangers were not able to fly to their destinations, because of the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajokull on Thursday. The ash in the atmosphere was a threat to aircraft jet engines. Scientist say that the ash plume is now shrinking. However it is still not completely save for the air traffic. More than 95,000 flights were cancelled across Europe over the past six days, with only a handful of flights taking off and landing at UK airports. About 75% of European flights are due to operate on Wednesday, according to the air traffic agency Eurocontrol. An estimated 150,000 Britons were stuck on the airport in England.

I feel pretty bad for the people who had to wait on the aiports. However, it was the best thing to do. The ash in the atnosphere was a threat to aircraft jet engines and there could have been a lot of accidents. So, it was safer for the people to stay at the aiport and wait. Although, it most have been a long time for them. Fortunately there were a lot of people who were at the aiport to help them. It will still take some time for the air traffic before they can fly without any problems. However, most problems are now solved.
